Over 400 entries from students in about 30 tertiary institutions across Nigeria were received as at the June 30 deadline for the National essay Competition organised by the Port Harcourt World Book Capital. The contest which had the topic: ‘Possibilities for Nigeria at 100’ was open to only students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria as part of the WBC programme for youths.
The entries are now being sorted, tagged and sent for marking by seasoned academics in English Language. Successful contestants will be contacted, announced and awarded during the Port Harcourt Book Festival (PHBF) holding in October this year. Names of the three winners will also be published on the Port Harcourt World Book Capital website and in national dailies.
The prizes include laptops, bags of books and a total of one million naira in education grants.
