Reading With Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani

The Port Harcourt based Rainbow Book Club played host to the 2009 Commonwealth Prize-winner and author of I do Not Come to You By Chance, Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani.

Nwaubani’s widely acclaimed book is the Rainbow Book Club book-of-the-month for June 2010. The event held at Le Meridien, Ogeyi Place on Sunday 6th June. This book has been described as a tragic-comic about 419 (advanced fee fraud) phenomenon. Nwaubani however says the book goes beyond the 419 issue, it is also about family, love, life and how circumstances can bring about change in people. The Akuma lodge was filled with literary enthusiasts during the 90 minute reading which was moderated by Koko Kalango, the book club founder. Last quarter the Rainbow Book Club hosted the author of Say You Are One of Them, Father Uwem Akpan.

Rainbow Book Club Communications Manager, Effie White, says residents and visitors to the Garden City can expect other exciting literary events in the remaining 2 quarters of the year.
