RAINBOW BOOK CLUB WELCOMES THE NEW ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DIRECTOR
Rainbow Book Club (RBC) founder, Mrs. Koko Kalango was at the Alliance Francaise (AF) on the 21st of November to welcome the new Director, Marie-Helene Predhom to Port Harcourt. The RBC and AF have enjoyed a long-standing partnership since RBC kicked off its ‘Get Nigeria Reading again!’ campaign with Chimamanda Adichie in 2005, its 2016 campaign with Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka and in the plans to host French Nobel Laureate for Literature, J.M.G. Le Clezio in 2009. During Port Harcourt’s UNESCO World Book Capital tenure AF hosted a reading with the ‘Africa 39’ authors. ‘Africa 39’ is a collaboration between the UK- based Hay Festival and RBC which selected and celebrated 39 outstanding African authors under the age of 40. In 2016, RBC and AF held a joint tribute evening in honour of Late Elechi Amadi. As a graduate of French and International Relations, Rainbow Founder, Mrs. Koko Kalango, is at home with the AF and has had a good working relationship with AF PH Directors, Eman Emard, Helene Geneau-Okutue and looks forward to building on the mutually beneficial partnership. Marie-Helene Predhom has worked with AF aipt the University of Trinidad and Tobago and as Director of AF in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
